Details on the Scale of National Electricity Market Transactions in 2022

On February 13, the National Energy Administration held its regular press conference in Beijing. Zhao Xueshun, Deputy Director of the Market Supervision Department of the NEA, provided an update on the scale of electricity market transactions across China. According to transaction settlement data, in 2022, the total volume of electricity traded in the national market reached 5.25 trillion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 39%. This accounted for 60.8% of the nation's total electricity consumption, up 15.4 percentage points from the previous year. Notably, cross-provincial and cross-regional market-oriented electricity trading exceeded 1 trillion kilowatt-hours for the first time, growing nearly 50% year-on-year. As a result, the market's role in facilitating broader, more efficient allocation of power resources continued to strengthen. Meanwhile, the number of market participants registered with electricity trading institutions surpassed 600,000 for the first time, representing a 29% increase compared to the previous year. This surge has further invigorated market dynamics, laying a solid foundation for the continued growth of China's electricity market. Additionally, the average market transaction price for coal-fired power generation units nationwide reached 0.449 yuan per kilowatt-hour, approximately 18.3% higher than the national benchmark electricity price on average—effectively helping to ease the financial losses faced by coal-power enterprises.

按交易结算口径统计，2022年全国市场交易电量共5.25万亿千瓦时，同比增长39%，占全社会用电量比重达60.8%，同比提高15.4个百分点。其中，跨省跨区市场化交易电量首次超1万亿千瓦时，同比增长近50%，市场在促进电力资源更大范围优化配置的作用不断增强。

在电力交易机构注册的市场主体数量首次超过60万家，同比增长29%，进一步激发了市场活力，为电力市场发展奠定良好基础。全国燃煤发电机组市场平均交易价格达0.449元/千瓦时，较全国平均基准电价上浮约18.3%，有力缓解了煤电企业亏损局面。
